This decision is made on a mid- or long-term basis and therefore requires due consideration. ORion-PI^® calculates the optimal combination of the packaging assortment – based on popular order patterns as well as on article and order data.

How can the selected carton best be filled?

ORion-PI^® Cartoning not only determines the optimal packaging variants for complex packaging processes. It also generates an appropriate packaging scheme and guarantees an even weight balancing. While conventional solutions here often use the so-called liquefaction principle, ORion-PI^® also considers dimensions and weight of the articles.

Which carton size best suits which order?

Is it reasonable to split an order into several sendings? – ORion-PI^® Cartoning identifies the optimal size of carton for each order – with respect to volume, dimensions and weight of the items. In distribution centers where the commissioning is done directly into the packaging unit it, moreover, balances the traffic on the conveyor system as the generation of series minimizes the number of stations a package runs through. The temporary effort for the calculation remains minimal as ORion-PI^® Cartoning handles sequences of 30.000 orders in less than two minutes.
