Multi-Order-Picking

Mainly in bigger distribution centers the picking process is divided into two steps: At first, the staff simultaneously picks articles in the warehouse for different orders. Afterwards, these articles are assigned to the particular customer orders.
Especially the first step is very labor-intensive: the staff has to walk around in the warehouse and has to collect different articles. ORion-PI® hereby supports you to minimize picking costs by generating intelligent pick lists, generating as much multi order picks as possible. With this, a picker can collect the same article for many orders with one cycle. This reduces picking routes and times, if it is made intelligently.

Also, ORion-PI® limits the efforts in the second step, when the articles are assigned to the different customer orders. The aim is to achieve a total optimum over both working steps. The optimization task is to combine these orders and articles in the first picking step, so that on the one hand pick positions are bundled and picking routes are minimized as well as on the other hand the effort for the assignment of the articles is limited. When calculating the optimal order combinations, ORion-PI® certainly also considers aspects and restrictions like delivery deadlines or special treatments for dangerous goods.
