Material Flow Optimization
Different
picking stations, conveyor systems and fork lift truck traffic –
material flows
even in small distribution centers are complex. And no matter if you
handle
1.000, 10.000 or 100.000 orders per day, the efficiency of your
warehouse
depends not only on the performance of the different departments, but
also on
their smooth interaction.
But often,
bottlenecks, overload and inefficiency occur because of lack of
transparency
and control intelligence. With our software
ORion-PI® we
are able to identify such inefficiencies and provide appropriate
measures. Output, productivity and transparency in
your distribution center
increase.
Therefore,
we model the layout of your warehouse
in our software and evaluate location, product and walking times with
basic
MTM-time. In simulations, ORion-PI®
analysis for example how long an
order in
different working areas takes to be fulfilled, which stations will be
overloaded and in which areas orders interfere each others. Our
software also
calculates the output per day or the process time for all
orders.
In a second
step, different measures to improve the material flow can be evaluated.
E.g.,
how does output change if in picking area A less products are stored?
Which
effects does an additional picking line have? And which benefit has a
new
bypass in the conveyor system? By simulation of such scenarios you get
reliable
information about possible activities and their pros and cons.
