Batch Optimization

ORion-PI^® Batch Optimization allows the optimal design of order sequences in multi-stage commissioning processes. An intelligent grouping of orders in batches is an important step in the optimization of intra-logistic commissioning processes.

By optimizing commissioning orders the efficiency of all working processes can be increased significantly. ORion-PI^® Batch Optimization makes sure that each picking bin passes through a minimal number of storage zones and reaches a high fill level. Based on item properties, storage layout and ordering structure ORion-PI^® calculates the optimal sequencing of order positions before the picking process starts and – in so doing – allows even and efficient commissioning processes.

Batch optimization – as part of the order control – holds remarkable potential in most distribution centers. Why? – Every single process within a warehouse is a continuously repeated part of an overall working process. While the effect on the single commissioning process is small the overall result improves significantly.
