Axxom provides free university edition of its software ORion-PI® for the design and optimization of production and logistics networks
Munich, 22nd February 2007 - From March 15th German Axxom Software AG offers universities and colleges a free university edition of ORion-PI® Value Network Optimization. The release which is meant for educational purposes contains all functionalities for the integrated design and optimization of production and logistics networks and allows the realistic simulation of complex planning settings. Universities, technical colleges and other academies thus can gain practical experience in the broad functionalities of a state-of-the-art optimization software for multi-level supply chain networks. As introduction Axxom offers an extensive documentation of the software as well as free web seminars and technical support via e-mail and Skype.
"Our network optimization software enables universities to practically 'toy' with complex business scenarios. Students get hands-on experience with a state-of-the-art design and optimization software", explains Dr. Christoph Plapp, CEO of Axxom Software AG, the reasons for the launch of a university version. "Academics now can gain know-how of a tool for the strategic design of supply chain networks which is already established in the market."
The software will be available to universities from March 15th. License con-tracts regulating the non-commercial and educational use can be closed with immediate effect. In addition to the extensive documentation and accompanying web seminars, Axxom plans to establish a discussion forum in which universities can exchange their experiences. Implementation of ORion-PI® requires Oracle10g XE which is available free of charge from the Oracle website.
With the introduction of the university version Axxom responds to the increas-ing demand of an intelligent supply chain design for global acting companies. "Traditionally, supply chain optimization focuses on the improvement of operational processes. With ORion-PI® Value Network Optimization we capitalize on the optimization of business structures", explains Plapp the technological background of the software. "ORion-PI® allows the rapid improvement of business processes while capital expenditure remains low."
From March 7th to 8th Axxom offers more information on the university version and the potentials of an integrated network optimization at the 8th Logistics Forum in Duisburg / Germany.
