MTM-based benchmarking for higher logistics efficiency


At German Logistics Congress Axxom will present new consulting service for an objective comparison of warehouse and logistics efficiency

Munich, 23nd September, 2009 – From 21st to 23rd of October Axxom Software AG will present new services for benchmarking of productivity in warehouses and distribution centers at the German Logistics Congress in Berlin (booth W/19). Axxom evaluates logistics efficiency using MTM time components and an innovative methodology in which processes and MTM times are derived directly from the warehouse layout. Thus, many laborious steps usually necessary using MTM methods can be omitted. By comparing the results with reference data it is possible to easily and quickly identify weak points and potentials for short-term increase of efficiency and cost savings. In addition to this new service, Axxom will show its software portfolio for holistic and integrated logistics and supply chain optimization as well as for labor cost planning in warehouse and production, which has proved its worth in more than 350 successful projects.

How efficient is a warehouse and its intralogistics processes? Where are weak points and which measures for increasing productivity are worthwhile? And how can such measures optimally be implemented? To answer such questions, Axxom Software AG has developed a new consulting service that supports companies in benchmarking their warehouse productivity. The remarkable thing about Axxom`s new service is the methodology approach: To define the operative efficiency in logistics centers, Axxom uses an innovative productivity evaluation method based on of MTM time components. Using this standardized time system for manual operations in logistics and production, the time effort for single process steps – for example picking article A from shelf B – is determined. The big advantage of the Axxom solution: Processes and MTM times are derived directly from the warehouse layout and, for example, generated picking orders. Until now, to run MTM methods the user had to develop laboriously these processes on his own. By comparing the calculated time effort with Axxom`s comprehensive reference data library it is easy to identify weak spots in the processes and generate suitable countermeasures together with the Axxom consultants.

In addition to the new consulting service Axxom will show its software and services for strategic network optimization, labor cost planning and staff scheduling, and logistics optimization, which enable a rapid and sustainable logistics cost reduction and increase in efficiency. Thus, the Munich-based technology company will for example present its award-winning software ORion-PI® Express Handling (VDI Innovation Award Logistics 2009, LogiMAT 2009 – Best Product) and its new solutions for warehouse and space management.
