Axxom at the 24th International German Logistics Congress in Berlin
Munich, September 10th, 2007 – From October 17th to 19th 2007 Munich based Axxom Software AG showcases its solution portfolio for the optimal design of supply chain processes in logistics at the 24th International German Logistics Congress in Berlin. The exhibition in Berlin’s Hotel InterContinental (booth W/14 in the Wintergarten) will focus on the integrated design and optimization of logistics networks, workforce management for logistics as well as on logistics optimization concepts. Hands-on demos of the software ORion-PI® will visualize the benefits and proceeding of a software-based logistics optimization. Axxom will also present ORion-PI® Workforce@Logistics 5.0, the new release of its software for a demand-oriented workforce and production planning in logistics. „In view of increasingly global markets it becomes more and more important to rely on an efficient and globally acting logistics infrastructure and its optimal utilization. We thus focus on software solutions that simultaneously enhance the flexibility and efficiency of logistics processes”, stresses Dr. Christoph Plapp, CEO of Axxom Software AG. Demos shown at the congress thus center stage the strategic design and improvement of supply chain processes as well as the potentials of an intelligent allocation and dynamic optimization of inventories and capacities within distribution networks. Besides, Axxom informs on possibilities of an efficient workforce management and on solutions for intelligent logistics processes and systems (e.g. by the introduction and optimization of express lines).

Strategic inventory management and optimization of supply chain networks
Demo scenarios show the identification of the optimal number and dynamic allocation of capacities and inventories in complex distribution networks as well as ways to an efficient design of supply chain processes. Customer references will underline how ORion-PI® Value Network Optimization positively effects the integrated planning and dynamic optimization of logistics networks, with respect to storage costs, transport distances and delivery service.

Cost-effective workforce management in logistics
The intelligent management of workforce capacities and the flexible balancing of demand fluctuations have become crucial to the labor intensive logistics industries. The new release, ORion-PI® Workforce@Logistics 5.0, presented at the German Logistics Congress supports short-term operative personnel planning as well as long-term budget and capacity planning and will replace the previous version, ORion-PI® Demand-oriented Workforce Management. The synchronous balancing of required staff capacities and available resources forms the basis for the calculation of optimal personnel plans and temporary workers. The software also allows the strategic simulation of different shift models and includes functionalities such as vacation planning, budget planning, etc. Last but not least, new version provides a user-friendly interface, an interactive graphic assistant for workforce planning as well as a new controlling module for strategic cost evaluations.

Efficient logistics systems
Another main focus of the exhibition lies on the planning and optimization of operative logistics processes in logistics, showcasing the over-all solution portfolio of Axxom Software in this sector: from replenishment and batch optimization over the maximization of “Golden Cartons“ up to the dynamic balancing of capacities (personnel, resources, etc.). In this context, special attention is paid to the introduction and optimization of express lines as they help to deliberately increase the throughput of logistic systems.
