22.01.09 - Perfect Personnel PlanningAxxom at LogiMAT 2009Perfect Personnel PlanningAxxom presents new solutions for an integrated workforce and production planningMunich, January 23nd, 2009 – Axxom launched a new solution for an integrated workforce and production planning in logistics and distribution centers. The new software version of ORion-PI® Workforce@Logistics enables the user to design detailed plans of workforce demand and assignment in different warehouse areas. This helps companies to get a fast return on investment. Axxom presents its new software on LogiMAT (hall 5, booth 410) in Stuttgart/Germany from March 3rd until 5th. The solution determines optimal labour requirements by means of time components like MTM-times. Thus, all manual operations are attributed to basic movements such as turning or walking, for which the necessary times are known. By connecting manual operations with order volumes the total labour requirements for a planning period can be defined in detail. This new approach substantially improves on commonly used imprecise calculations based on standard productivities. The customer-specific distribution center layout consisting of different pick stations and working areas provides the basis for this new approach. For instance, all routes between picking areas and aisles as well as picking movements into different bin locations can be modelled with MTM-time components. Picking times and labour requirements are calculated dynamically in dependency on the articles position in the warehouse. The second step is an optimal assignment of available staff to single working areas. Furthermore, ORion-PI® Workforce@Logistics features strategic budget and capacity planning. Human resources can be planned and deployed optimally by the new Axxom solution, so that workforce bottlenecks and over capacities are avoided. This results in a significant increase of productivity in distribution centers. According to successfully finished pilot projects, the ROI of introducing the software is between six and twelve months. At LogiMAT Axxom presents innovative solutions for network and logistics optimization besides its new workforce management software. For instance, the Munich company shows an expansion of their software ORion-PI® Value Network Optimization for integrated location, distribution and transport fleet planning. By its solution portfolio for logistics optimization Axxom demonstrates that processes can be improved by intelligent software without huge investments in warehouse technology.
