Axxom presents new major release of ORion-PI® APS for integrated and specific planning at Achema  

Munich, 24th March 2009 – For the first time, Axxom Software AG presents the new major release of its planning solution ORion-PI® Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) at Achema (hall 10.01, booth H43). The software allows a holistic, company-wide consideration of sales, staff and production planning and considers task specific functionalities with individual workflows.

To model business processes and planning tasks realistically and support them with specific developed optimization algorithms – this is the basic principle of the new version of ORion-PI® Advanced Planning & Scheduling of Axxom. Due to an adaptive technology framework the solution can be customized to specific planning environments and new workflows, which are designed together with the planer and can be integrated easily and cost-effective. Industry-sector-, company- and task-specific requirements can be modelled easily. Also, the integration of other functionalities like staff and sales planning is possible.

“With our new version we deliver a holistic working environment for the planner. If there are changes in specific constraints, for example in order dispatching for a special department, implications on all areas – e.g. demand for manpower – is obvious, because ORion-PI® APS is working on an integrated data model”, says Dr. Uwe Rettig, head of product management and development at Axxom. By this, isolated planning processes, e.g. in areas with different responsibilities, are avoided.

Furthermore, the software uses approved components like interactive planning tables and networks, GUI or layout designer. This enables the user to analyse planning sequences quickly and interactive. Specially developed algorithms support the planner. These are part of Axxom´s optimization library and are integrated in the task specific planning environment and connected with manual decision processes during the implementation of the software.

In order to realistically map business processes ORion-PI® thus represents the supply chain from end-to-end, including all restrictions and constraints. Simulations and maximum interactivity provide the necessary transparency to evaluate changes in the plan and their impact on the rest of the process chain. Based on an integrated data model ORion-PI® provides interfaces to the market leading ERP systems.(2.464 characters)
